Ring inspired by the ornaments of early Celtic cultures, which achieved an expressive fusion of natural and abstract forms through minimal scrollwork. Earrings with hollowed-out nature casts of oak galls. White gold and painted gold ornaments. Oak galls are plant growths caused by gall wasps when they lay their eggs in oak tissue, manipulating the tree's growth hormones. Their shape and texture vary depending on the wasp species and the tree’s reaction. The galls cast here come from an English oak (Quercus robur) in the Rhine floodplains near Karlsruhe, where they were torn off by a storm. Ground oak galls served as a key ingredient in oak gall ink, which was the most widely used ink in Europe, the Mediterranean, and later America from the 5th to the early 20th century. The vast majority of manuscripts and still existing documents from this period were written with it.

The arms of this cross are fragments of Libyan Desert Glass, with their natural shape and surface fully preserved. This rare material is found in the Great Sand Sea, an expanse of the eastern Sahara straddling Libya and Egypt, where shifting dunes occasionally uncover specimens. Scientific dating places its formation at around 29 million years ago. Its mineralogical composition is that of desert sand fused into glass under the extreme heat of a major meteorite impact—although no suitable crater has ever been identified in the region. Throughout history, Libyan Desert Glass has been used by humankind, from knapped hand axes and arrowheads during the Ice Age to engraved scarabs in the jewelry of the pharaohs. In this cross, the glass arms are capped with yellow gold and meet at the center, where four rose-cut diamonds are set upon an engraved starfish-like ornament. Diamond and demantoid set earrings with a pair of moldavite drops—natural green glass formed from terrestrial debris ejected during a meteorite impact 15 million years ago. An asteroid with a circumference of 1.5 km (0.9 miles) entered Earth's atmosphere with a speed of 20 kilometres per second (12.5 mi/s), passed the atmosphere in course of just a few seconds without losing much of it velocity, and impacted the ground in the region between present-day Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich. The impact crater from this event, the Nördlinger Ries, is well-preserved to this day, but due to its size—its circumference measures 24 km (15 mi)—it is only recognizable from the air. Fractions of a second before the impact, the extreme temperature and pressure of the air between the Earth’s surface and the approaching asteroid melted and then evaporated the soil just beneath. The compressed air ejected the evaporated soil at a velocity that significantly exceeded that of the incoming asteroid, so that the liquid rock splatters cooled down and became green glass drops while they were still airborne. They fell in present-day Bohemia and Moravia regions of the Czech Republic (about 450 km away from the site of the original impact), where they are still found today. The name “moldavites” refers to the most important place of occurrence—the river once known as Moldau. One of a kind.
